There are different sizes of football for each level. So, which one is right for your teams age group? Here we have a list of each size and what age group each football is right for.
Pee Wee Football
A pee wee football is for the younger kids. I would say about 8 or 9 years old and younger. Unless your team has some prodigies they aren’t going to be able to do anything with a bigger ball than this.
Junior Football
Junior footballs are for the 10-12 age group. I played with this ball from 5th to 6th grade
Youth Football
Youth footballs are for the 12-14 age group. People tend to play with this in 7th and 8th grade.
Official Football
The largest size of football, these are High School and up. Don’t play with this one unless you are that age because it tends to be really hard to grip for younger kids.
Make sure you know what size of ball your league uses. If you don’t, you’ll end up using a size to big like my team did in 8th grade and it makes it a little harder to catch and throw. You don’t want your 5 year old team to drop the ball over and over because the ball is to big.
